Applied Physics Group is looking for Postdocs. We apply state-of-the-art neutron and synchrotron scattering techniques to study the structure and dynamics of advanced materials. NEWS

May 2026 > Dr. Mingyu Fan, a Visiting Scholar in the group, joined China General Nuclear Power Corporation (中国广核集团).  Congratulations!

Dec 2025 > Dr. Li Zhu, a Postdoc Fellow in the group, has started a faculty position at School of Mathematics and Physics, University of Science and Technology.  Congratulations!

Sep 2025  > Congratulations are in order for Weixia Dong, Chenghui Hu, and Lingrui Fan, who successfully defended their PhD theses.  Weixia worked on nanostructured high entropy alloys, while Chenghui and Lingrui worked on phonons in high entropy alloys.

Jul 2025  > Dr. Xiyang Li, a Visiting PhD Student in the group, joined the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Science, as a PI.  Xiyang spent two years at CityU working on phonons and Boson Peak in metallic glass using inelastic neutron scattering. Congratulations!

 

Sep 2024 > Our work on antiferromagnetic order in high entropy alloys was published Phys. Rev. Lett.                                    Congratulations to Drs. Li Zhu, Haiyan He, M. Naeem, and Xun Sun

Aug 2024 > Miss Yuemin Ma successfully passed her PhD examination.  Congratulations Dr. Ma!

Apr 2024 > The IHEP-CityU Joint Laboratory on Neutron Scattering was rated “Outstanding”

Mar 2024 > Miss Yuemin Ma and Dr. Muhammad Naeem published in Acta Materialia

Feb 2024 > Dr. Xi Zhao joined BIEL Crystal

Jan 2024 > Prof. Xun-Li Wang was elected to Board of Directors of the American Physical Society (APS)
